ซึ่งสามารถแบ่งเรือนพักอาศัยออกเป็นประเภทใหญ่ๆ ดังนี้\n</p>\n<p>\nเรือนชนบท หรือเรือนเครื่องผูก เรือนประเภทนี้หาดูได้ทั่วไปตามชนบทและหมู่บ้านต่างๆ เรือนชนิดนี้โครงสร้างของหลังคา ตง พื้น ใช้ไม้ไผ่ ส่วนคานและเสานิยมใช้ไม้เนื้อแข็ง ฝาเป็นฝาไม้ไผ่สาน หลังคามุงแฝกหรือใบตองตึง นิยมใช้ตอกและหวายเป็นตัวยึดส่วนต่างๆ เรือนเข้าด้วยกันด้วยวิธีผูกมัด เรือนชนบทเป็นเรือนขนาดเล็กถือว่าเป็นเรือนแบบดั้งเดิม\n</p>\n<p>\nเรือนไม้ หรือเรือนเครื่องสับ เรือนไม้ เป็นเรือนของผู้มีอันจะกิน ทำด้วยไม้เนื้อแข็ง เช่น สัก เต็ง รัง ตะเคียน ไม้แดง ฯลฯ การปลูกเรือนประเภทนี้ไม่ต้องใช้ตะปูตอก ยึดให้ไม้ติดกันหรือประกอบกัน โดยการใช้มีด สิ่ว หรือขวานถากไม้ให้เป็นรอยสับแล้วประกอบเข้าด้วยกัน เรียกว่า การประกอบเข้าลิ้นสลักเดือย หลังคามุงกระเบื้อง (ดินขอ) หรือแป้นเกล็ด\n</p>\n<p>\nเรือนกาแล เป็นเรือนพักอาศัยของผู้มีอันจะกินและผู้นำชุมชน หรือเป็นเรือนของบุคคลชั้นสูงในสังคม เรือนประเภทนี้มีลักษณะพิเศษคือมียอดจั่วประดับกาแลไม้สลักอย่างงดงาม หน้าต่างเป็นช่องแคบ ๆ ส่วนประตูเรือนทำเป็นช่องออกทางด้านหน้าเรือนเพียงประตูเดียว ภายในเรือนจึงค่อน ข้างมืด เพราะในฤดูหนาวมีลมพัดจัดและอากาศจัดจึงต้องทำเรือนให้ทึบและกันลมได้หลังคาเรือนทำเป็นทรงจั่วอย่างเรือนไทยภาคกลางมุงด้วยกระเบื้องดินเผาหรือกระเบื้องไม้สักจั่วกรุด้วยไม้ตีเกล็ดเป็นรูปรัศมีของอาทิตย์ทั้งสองด้าน เรียกว่า "เรือนสามห้อง" ใต้ถุนโล่ง ชั้นบนแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ส่วนคือ \n</p>\n<p>\n1.1 ห้องเปิง เป็นห้องนอนของลูกชาย มักไม่มีการกั้นห้อง \n</p>\n<p>\n1.2 ห้องพ่อ-แม่ อาจกั้นเป็นห้องหรือปล่อยโล่ง \n</p>\n<p>\n1.3 ห้องนอนลูกสาว หรือเรียกว่า ห้องส่วม มีประตูเข้ามีฝากั้นมิดชิด หากมีลูกเขยจะให้นอนในห้องนี้ \n</p>\n<p>\nส่วนชั้นล่างของเรือนนอนใหญ่ อาจใช้สอยได้อีก เช่น กั้นเป็นคอกวัวควาย ฯลฯ \n</p>\n<p>\n2. เกย คือบริเวณชานโล่งที่มีหลังคาคลุม เป็นพื้นที่ลดระดับลงมาจากเรือนนอนใหญ่ มักใช้เป็นที่รับแขก หรือที่รับประทานอาหาร ส่วนของใต้ถุนจะเตี้ยกว่าปกติ อาจไว้ใช้เป็นที่เก็บฟืน \n</p>\n<p>\n3. เรือนแฝด เป็นเรือนทรงจั่วแฝด เช่นเดียวกับเรือนนอน โครงสร้างทั้งคานพื้นและขื่อหลังคา จะฝากไว้กับเรือนนอน แต่หากเป็นเรือนแฝดลดพื้นลงมากกว่าเรือนนอน ก็มักเสริมเสาเหล็กมารับคานไว้อีกแถวหนึ่งต่างหาก \n</p>\n<p>\n4. เรือนโข่ง มีลักษณะเป็นเรือนทรงจั่วเช่นเดียวกับเรือนนอนใหญ่ แต่ต่างจากเรือนแฝดตรงที่โครงสร้างของเรือนโข่งจะแยก ออกจากเรือนนอนโดยสิ้นเชิง สามารถรื้อถอนออกไปปลูกใหม่ได้โดยไม่กระทบกระเทือนต่อเรือนนอน \n</p>\n<p>\n5. เรือนไฟ (เรือนครัว) ส่วนมากจะเป็นเรือน 2 ช่วงเสา มีจั่วโปร่งเพื่อระบายควันไฟ ฝานิยมใช้ไม้ไผ่สานลายทแยงหรือลายขัด \n</p>\n<p>\n6. ชานแดด เป็นบริเวณนอกชานเชื่อมระหว่างเกย เรือนแฝดกับเรือนไฟ มีบันไดขึ้นด้านหน้าเรือน มี "ฮ้างแอ่งน้ำ" อยู่ตรงขอบของ ชานแดด บางเรือนที่มีบันไดขึ้นลงทางด้านหลังจะมี "ชานมน" เรือนเครื่องสับ และเรือนก่ออิฐฉาบปูน โดยเอกลักษณ์ของเรือนภาคใต้อยู่ที่หลังคาเรือนและ เสาเรือนจะเป็นเสาไม้ตั้งบนฐานคอนกรีตเหตุเพราะสภาพแวดล้อมทางธรรมชาติเกิดพายุไต้ฝุ่น พายุฝน ลมแรงเสมอ จำเป็นต้องมีโครงสร้างที่แข็งแรงและด้วยเหตุที่จังหวัดปัตตานี เป็นจังหวัดที่ผลิตกระเบื้องในสมัยก่อน ฉะนั้น เรือนในภาคใต้ส่วนใหญ่จึงมักมุงหลังคาด้วยกระเบื้อง แต่ก็พบเรือนหลังคา \n</p>\n<p>\nในชุมชนที่ประกอบอาชีพกสิกรรมและประมงจะปลูกสร้างเรือนหลังคาทรงจั่ว ไม่มีการตกแต่งหน้าจั่ว วัสดุมุงหลังคาส่วนใหญ่ใช้จาก แต่บางเรือนที่มีฐานะดีจะ มุงกระเบื้องเพื่อความมั่นคงแข็งแรง ความลาดชันของหลังคาขึ้นอยู่กับวัสดุมุง หลังคาในท้องถิ่นนั้นว่าจะใช้กระเบื้องดินเผาหรือกระเบื้องขนมเปียกปูนหรือมุง แฝกจากเรือนเครื่องผูกหลังคาทรงจั่วปลูกสร้างง่ายด้วยตนเอง โยกย้ายได้ง่ายวัสดุ หาง่าย ส่วนเรือนเครื่องสับ สำหรับผู้มีฐานะดีหลังคาจั่วเป็นรูปตรงทรงไม่สูงตกแต่งหน้าจั่วยอด จั่วมุงนั้นด้วยกระเบื้องแผ่นสี่เหลี่ยมเชิงชาย และช่องลมใต้เพดานแต่งด้วยไม้ฉลุสวยงาม /></a></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>\n</p>\n<p>\nลักษณะทั่วไปของเรือนไทยในภาคใต้\n</p>\n<p>\nเรือนส่วนใหญ่จะวางเสาไว้บนตอหม้อตีนเสาซึ่งจะก่ออิฐฉาบปูนเมื่อต้องการจะทำการย้ายบ้านก็จะ ปลดกระเบื้องลงตีไม้ยึดโครงสร้างเสาเป็นรูปกากบาทแล้วใช้คนหามย้ายไปตั้งในที่ที่ต้องการนำกระเบื้องขึ้นมุงใหม่ ส่วนใหญ่จะใช้ไม้ในการก่อสร้างรูปทรงของเรือนเป็นเรือนไม้ ใต้ถุนสูงประมาณคนก้มตัวลอดผ่านได้ เสาทุกต้นไม่ฝังลงดินเพราะว่าดินมันชื้น และก็จะทำให้เสาผุเร็ว แต่จะตั้งอยู่บนแผ่นปูนหรือแผ่นหินเรียบ ๆ ที่ฝังอยู่ ในดินให้โผล่ขึ้นมาจากพื้นดินไม่เกิน 1 ฟุต เพื่อกันมิให้ปลวกกัดตีนเสาและกันเสาผุจากความชื้นของดิน ตีนเสา ตอนล่างห่างจากพื้นดิน ประมาณ 1- 2 ฟุตจะมีไม้ร้อยทะลุเสาทุกต้นตามความยาวของเรือนทั้ง 3 แถวเพื่อทำหน้าที่ยึดโครงสร้างของเรือนให้แข็งแรงมากขึ้น \n</p>\n<p>\nตัวเรือนกั้นฝาด้วยแผ่นกระดานตีเกร็ดตามแนวนอน กั้นห้องสำหรับเป็นห้องนอน 1 ห้อง อีกห้องหนึ่งปล่อยโล่ง ด้านหน้าบ้านมีระเบียงด้านข้าง เรือนเครื่องสับในภาคใต้จะทำช่องหน้าต่างแคบ ๆ หลังคาทำทรงจั่วถากจันทันให้แอ่นแบบเดียวกับเรือนไทย ภาคกลางแต่ทรวดทรงเตี้ยกว่าเล็กน้อย ติดแผ่นปั้นลมแบบหางปลา ไม่นิยมทำตัวเหงา \n</p>\n<p
