กลอน

กลอน คือลักษณะคำประพันธ์ ที่เรียบเรียงเข้าเป็นคณะ 

มีสัมผัสกัน ตามลักษณะบัญญัติ เป็นชนิดๆ แต่ไม่มีบังคับ เอกโท และครุลหุ
 
กลอนแบ่งออกเป็น ๓ ชนิด คือ กลอนสุภาพ กลอนลำนำ และกลอนตลาด

บทของกลอน
 
คำกลอนวรรคหนึ่ง เรียกว่า กลอนหนึ่ง
 
สองวรรค หรือสองกลอน เรียกว่า บาทหนึ่ง หรือคำหนึ่ง
 
สองคำ หรือสองบาท หรือสี่วรรค หรือสี่กลอน เรียกว่า บทหนี่ง 

วรรคทั้งสี่ของกลอน ยังมีชื่อเรียกต่างๆ กัน และนิยมใช้เสียงต่างๆ กันอีก คือ 


๑. กลอนสลับ ได้แก่ กลอนวรรคต้น คำสุดท้าย ใช้คำเต้น 
คือนอกจากเสียงสามัญ แต่ถ้าจะใช้ ก็ไม่ห้าม 
๒. กลอนรับ ได้แก่ กลอนวรรคที่สอง คำสุดท้าย นิยมใช้ เสียงจัตวา ห้ามใช้เสียงโท, สามัญ, ตรี, 
และวรรณยุกต์เอกมีรูป วรรณยุกต์เอกไม่มีรูป ไม่ห้าม แต่ต้องให้คำสุดท้าย ของกลอนรอง เป็นเสียงตรี 
๓. กลอนรอง ได้แก่ กลอนวรรคที่สาม คำสุดท้าย นิยมใช้ เสียงสามัญ ห้ามใช้เสียงจัตวา หรือคำที่มีรูปวรรณยุกต์ 
๔. กลอนส่ง ได้แก่ กลอนวรรคที่สี่ คำสุดท้าย นิยมใช้ เสียงสามัญ ห้ามใช้คำตาย 
และคำที่มีรูปวรรณยุกต์ จะใช้คำตายเสียงตรี บ้างก็ได้
