และตัวยาอื่นๆ อีก 6 ชนิด การปรุงจะใช้กะเพรา 6 ส่วน ตัวยาอื่นๆ อย่างละ 1 ส่วน รวม 6 ส่วนเท่ากะเพรา<br />\n          3. การทำให้พิษหรือสิ่งที่ไม่ต้องการของตัวยาอ่อนลง โดยที่ตัวยาที่ต้องการคงสภาพเดิม ในการปรุงยาผู้ปรุงยังจำเป็นต้องรู้เกี่ยวกับคำบางคำ ได้แก่
          ทั้งห้า หมายถึง ต้น ราก ใบ ดอก และผล
          ส่วน หมายถึง ส่วนในการตวง (ปริมาตร)ไม่ใช่การชั่งน้ำหนัก
          กระสายยา หมายถึง ตัวละลายยา เช่น น้ำ และน้ำปูนใส เป็นต้น
          การสะตุ หมายถึงการแปรรูปลักษณะของบางอย่าง เช่น เกลือ สารส้ม หรือเครื่องยาให้เป็นผงบริสุทธิ์โดยวิธีทำให้สลายตัวด้วยไฟ เพื่อให้สิ่งที่ไม่ต้องการซึ่งเป็นมลทินระเหยหมดไปหรือเพื่อให้เครื่องยามีฤทธิ์อ่อนลงโดยอาจเติมสารบางอย่าง เช่น น้ำมะนาว น้ำมะลิ เป็นต้นทั้งนี้ขึ้นอยู่กับเครื่องยาหรือสมุนไพรนั้นๆ
