Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum  The rough endoplasmic reticulum manufactures membranes and secretory proteins. In leukocytes the rough ER produces antibodies. เอนโดพลาสมิก เรติคูลัมชนิดขรุขระ (rough endoplasmic reticulum : RER) 
เป็นชนิดที่มี ไรโบโซมเกาะ
หน้าที่

-  การสังเคราะห์โปรตีน ของไรโบโซมที่เกาะอยู่ โดยมีกอลจิบอดี ( golgi body)
- เป็นตัวสะสม หรือทำให้มีขนาดพอเหมาะ ที่ส่งออกนอกเซลล์
-  ลำเลียงสาร ซึ่งได้แก่ โปรตีน ที่สร้างได้ และสารอื่นๆ เช่น ลิพิดชนิดต่างๆ
ในเซลล์ที่เกิดใหม่ พบว่ามี RER มากกว่า SER แต่เมื่เซลล์มีอายุมากขึ้น พบว่า SER มากกว่า RER เชื่อกันว่า RER จะเปลี่ยนเป็น SER เมื่อเซลล์มีอายุมากขึ้น
